A subject that makes people freeze, an obligation that we all have to have!!!
This question might be the one question asked the most by most humans around the world.
But truly, what is #purpose and why has this been one of the most unanswered questions by many, many, many people?
Well, I’ll be honest here and say I don’t have a clear, straight answer for this, but what I do know about purpose is this…
Really… are you? because this is going to be HUGE!
I mean this could actually answer your long-life question: WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?
Well, good friend, here it goes.
For starters, your purpose is NOT what you think it is! Let’s, at least, get this out of the way before we begin.
Your purpose is NOT a goal, it’s not something you achieve, it’s not something you do, it’s not something outside of you, and it’s not something that you look for.
Your purpose is so much more than that. I’m going to say something right now that might come as a shock to you, but please bear with me.
The rose is here to be a rose, a lion is here to be a lion, and you are here to be YOU.
You are here in this world because your purpose is to LIVE it fully. Your purpose is living your life the “best” way possible for you. Your purpose is to live your most authentic self here on earth.
This includes knowing who you are, getting clear on your values and what truly touches your heart, it’s following your passion (or please let me take this word back because passion also tends to make people freeze!)
It’s following everything you feel called to do or learn about or spend time in, it’s your natural talents and what you’re organically good at. Like what joseph Campbell says: ‘follow your bliss”
This is your purpose and that’s why you’re here. So, next time you find yourself asking this question: What is my purpose?
Sit down with yourself and remember it all starts with YOU.
Here are 7 things you can do to find and live your purpose:
Ask yourself questions like who am I now? and who do I want to become? What are my values?
This version of you that you so deeply desire to be is already living inside you now waiting for you to notice it and allow it to come out.
There is a kind of knowing that you connect to when you close your eyes that you will never see when your eyes are open. Deep in the silence you have within all your secrets reside. (oh, this sounded so deep! But it’s really true!)
When we were children, purpose was never something we obsessed about and why do you think that is? It’s because we were already living it. Being who we are fully with no filters whatsoever, doing what we want when we wanted it.
So, go back to a place in time when you were a kid and remember what did you enjoy doing? How did you dress? What did you spend your time on and then spend more time doing just that! Allow your inner child to come to life
What kind of conversations do you love to have, books you read, pages your follow on social media, things you just enjoy doing and lose sense of time while you’re doing them? (This right here is your BLISS!!!)
The inner voice of wisdom that whispers to you sometimes, the hunch in your gut, or that feeling in your heart that sends you messages sometimes telling you to do something or not to do it. This is your #intuition, and your intuition speaks to you through your feelings or your physical sensations, and it plays a major role in always guiding you to your own truth (aka your purpose)
Take time to slow down and just be with yourself, have a cup of undisturbed coffee, walk in nature, journal and write down your thoughts. In that space of being your will allow yourself to connect to step out of the hamster wheel of doing, and just come back to the NOW, the only moment that truly exists in your life.
We spend so much time obsessing about our purpose we forget to actually live. And when we forget to live we disconnect from our purpose and we enter what I would like to call “the dark ages”; when nothing and no one is ever enough.
I want to leave you with this…
Your existence alone is magical, embrace everything that makes you who you are, follow your bliss, live fully, dream big and embrace where you are right now because like the famous poet Rumi says:
Your purpose is in you now and just by breathing and being authentically you, you are fulfilling this purpose in every second of every day.
